Course Description: The CDM research colloquium is a weekly seminar in which we invite speakers (faculty and senior researchers) from the academic and business communities. The lectures feature creative and scholarly works that encompass the disciplines and areas of interest of CDM faculty. For Spring 2021, the focus will be on the intersection of people and technology.
The Research Colloquium is also a 2-credit course. Participating students must listen to talks, and write reflections for each of the presentations. The educational objectives are to expose students to creative and scholarly research in the computing field, and to engage students in the thought process of identifying and solving challenging research problems.
Prerequisites for CSC 395: (CSC-321 or CSC-355 or CSC-376) and (WRD-204).
Prerequisites for CSC 500: None
Attendance and Participation: Students are expected to attend each class virtually in-person and to remain for the duration. Joining Zoom session 15 minutes late or leaving 15 minutes early constitutes an absence for the student. The slides and recording will be made available through D2L.

Changes to Syllabus: This syllabus is subject to change as necessary during the quarter. If a change occurs, it will be thoroughly addressed during class, posted on D2L, and sent via email.
Attitude: A professional and academic attitude is expected throughout this course. Measurable examples of non-academic or unprofessional attitude include but are not limited to: perusing social media and indulging in web browsing when the presenter is speaking, mocking another’s opinion, texting on cell phone, emailing, etc.

Any instances of disrespect or hostility can jeopardize a student’s ability to be successful in the course. Academic Integrity and Plagiarism: All assignments must be done on YOUR OWN. In particular, plagiarism is strictly forbidden. Scholastic dishonesty includes acquiring answers from any unauthorized source, working with another person except when permitted by the instructor, providing answers when not specifically authorized to do so.
